Paul Glynn, Fly fishing Guide to
the southern rivers of New Zealand.

Welcome to Trout Wilderness  Searching for the world’s finest wild rainbow and brown trout fly fishing? Then look no further! Allow us to guide you on a unique and rewarding fly fishing experience.

About Paul – Fly Fishing Guide New Zealand

We have access to endless rivers, streams, and lakes in the lower part of the South Island, all holding large wild trout. We specialise in nymph and dry fly fishing, focusing mainly on streams and mountain head waters. These offer trout that average 4 - 7 lbs, with the occasional 10 lb beauty.

Southern waters, unlike many others in New Zealand (where the trout have a reputation for eating anything) are challenging and require a high skill level to fish, but with our locality, knowledge and a positive attitude, the results can be incredible! I can show you how to use tiny flies, long leaders and light tippets on the pickiest of trout, and I’ll even help you solve the ‘match the hatch’ riddle.

We own and operate 4WD vehicles (Quad motor bikes) and a jet boat, which are ideal for accessing hard to reach locations. And for the truly adventurous, we can transport you via helicopter to the remotest of rivers and streams.

So come along to Trout Wilderness and enjoy the experience of fishing some of New Zealand’s — and the worlds — supreme waters. As your guide, I will plan and organise everything, including accommodation, so you can relax and enjoy your fly fishing experience.
